✨Free Resources update, Plants.re
Adding this brilliant site to the Free Resources list.
I came across this resource via a comment thread in the 'Brisbane Nature Strip and Vege Gardens' group on FB. A post was asking for verge garden examples and ideas, and the commenters dropped a few wonderful gems.
First were the BBC (Brisbane City Council) Verg Gardens info page, and a substack article, 'Understanding the Space', by Gayle Dallas, founder of 'Shady Lanes Project', (both linked at base). And then there was this offering by Max Power ( @foryourplant on Instagram ).
In their words " I made a site that overlays SEQ regional ecosystems to show you which native species were probably in that area originally", then adding in another comment that they "wanted to make a faster way for people to find native plants without having to spend days googling". And y'all! I kinda think that's brilliant!

Image description: The image is of a screen shot of the website. It shows a colourful referdex style map of Brisbane on the top half. Written on the bottom half is "Based on pre-clearing regional ecosystems. Click an area to see a list of associated plant species, grouped by growth habit. Species are listed as a guide, using data from QGOV Open Data portal, and WildNet API. Future features may include: highlight areas based on species search, share results, export results. Species names subject to change."
