Check in with me, how's you? How was your week, and what are you looking forward to? How's you floating 🪼

Dark Moon šŸŒ‘ šŸ§™ It's a time to focus on self reflection, meditate on times you've been triggered over the last cycle and if those triggers are highlighting room for healing and growth.

My view right now

Ā

Through the plants on the left I can see Rootakangs across the road, munching on grass and laying blissfully in the sun. Pretty dam stocked with our new rental! What a blessing!Ā

Ā

Also observering European Bees buzz about and evidence of native Leaf cutter bees. Mental note plant more flowers, and to bundle hollow sticks/stems, and drill holes in wood blocks, then leave the randomly through out our potted garden.

Ā

The Habanero seeds are starting to germinateĀ

And out plant wall water catching pots are working wonderfully

Can you believe we are at the end of the month already! January doesn't count, Feb is the start of the year and March is like a Tuesday, y’know, we're still at the beginning, everything is still somewhat fresh and new but we are definitely getting into the grind of the year.Ā

With the constant meta polycrisis and personal events, it's hard for me to think in calendar blocks, as opposed to arcs, with overarching climate anxiety and existential dread on top of that. Here we have gone from the Cyclone, to what felt like just a few days of sun, to over a week of pretty much constant rain. For some, it's been like a year's worth of rain on the back of already well hydrated soil from the cyclone.Ā

Ā

Watching the volume of stormwater rushing down the street made me stop on my way out, with one of those moments of realisation of how differently I view the world after leaning into permaculture. There's a lot I see through an earth restoration lense that I can't ignore. Like where does this specific street's stormwater go? Are there maps I can access? Where do these Roos go? What's their specific path and is this mapped? They're a family that's walked that path for who knows how long. Do developers really check in with animal paths when throwing up these virus-like new estates that just suffocate the landscape into an ecological void. I have so many questions and ā€˜to-do's’, and heartache.

We have had more rain in the last week than we did during the cyclone event. Since moving it's such a relief not having an instant lake out the front after the slightest rain, or swamping on either side of the house.

Here our front yard slopes down to the road so def no wucken forries there. The backyard here is flat and while having two lawn drains that function fairly well, at times it still just can't keep up with the sheer amount of water in these downpours. But as soon as those heavier downpours ease, we're all good. Being flat means a lot has soaked in, great for the earth, but leaving us with very soft soil for now. Any use of the yard will result in mud pits, and while it's very tempting to just blast jungle beats and embrace the mud between my toes, I'm still on good behaviour with our first house inspection due anytime now. So there's another few days of tools down till it dries out.

Through all this rain the only reason I haven't gone completely stir crazy is because I've been hella sick for the entire week, escalating continuation from last wknd. Basically I slept for half the week, and very light duties for rest.

I get up, do one thing, go lay down, like full spoony. As bizarre as it sounds, I was actually able to get a heap done in the way of unpacking and setting up my multi functional living/office space. It's like the lack of energy, having me do one thing at a time kinda hacked my audhd, kneecapping my ability to see objects 'potential’, and process them quicker, more black and white, more decisive. Pretty sure everything is now out of boxes. I'm not convinced it's a good or bad thing as some stuff is now in collections around the table. I gotta see it to sort it tho, right. In sight, in mind, each time I pass it, it slowly processes.Ā

ā›§

Looking forward? Checking stuff off my never ending to do list šŸ˜‚ Still, getting the Cubby House set up, setting up our kitchen garden & herb wall. Selling at least half of our plant stock, full clearance mode, and all of our retail stock (ceramic pots, metal buckets, rustic scissors, secateurs). Getting back into the rhythm of my life when I'm my most favourite self blocking time to study and train.
